FESTINA LENTE
(electro-acoustic music, 1996)
Festina Lente literally means ‘hurry up slowly’. The fanfare is based upon natural tones obtained from the bronze lur (bronze horn). This instrument originated in the Bronze Age and has been found in prehistoric Scandinavian excavations. Thus, it is an ancient instrument which forms the basis for this modern fanfare.
Festina Lente was commissioned by the Høyskolen in Oslo. The composition has been realized at NoTAM.
